No matter what time of year you enjoy time away in the scenic Coachella Valley, you’ll find filling an itinerary with incredible stops and inspiring activities is a breeze. When you head this way and you’re looking for a spectacular view to add to your lineup, be sure to make time to experience the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway for yourself while you’re in town.
Enjoy a New View of Palm Springs
You’ll find the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway at 1 Tram Way and when you hop onboard for the ride, you’ll be treated to a bird’s eye view of your surroundings on the largest rotating tramway of its kind. It’s a must-enjoy landmark in town that’s open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm and 8:00 am until 8:00 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays between September 2 and May 15 each year. If you travel to Palm Springs between May 24 and September 1, you can enjoy time on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday and from 8:00 am until 9:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays as well as from 8:00 am until 9:30 pm on Sundays.
Savor the Journey
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway has a history dating back to 1963 when it was originally constructed to carry passengers from the Coachella Valley to the San Jacinto Peak. Today, it’s a convenient way to access summit trails, but it’s also an opportunity to settle in for a 10-minute ride and enjoy spectacular views over the Chino Canyon cliffs as you make your way up to the 8,516-foot mark. As the tram rotates, it’s a great moment to capture your surroundings on camera or snap a one-of-a-kind family photo as well. When you reach the top, you can enjoy some time exploring the observation decks, the gift shop, the natural history museum, or the documentary theaters and high-altitude restaurants.
Purchase Your Tickets to Ride
Purchasing tickets online in advance of your trip up the tramway is always advisable but if they happen to be sold out, you’ll have options to purchase them at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway ticket booth in person too. Tickets for adults are $34.95 and children ages 3 to 10 can ride for $20.95 each. Seniors 65 and up enjoy a discounted ticket price of $31.95 and if you know you’ll be in Palm Springs frequently, there are annual pass and summer pass options available to purchase too.
