What Guests Can Expect
The Kennel Club of Palm Springs Dog Show runs for four days in January and is a showcase of purebred dogs competing for a variety of titles and recognition in their respective categories. This prestigious show is the official opener event of the dog show season and is a gathering that brings spectators and participants to the Empire Polo grounds in droves. The Kennel Club Dog Show is an annual AKC licensed All-Breed dog show that includes conformation shows as well as rally and obedience competitions over the course of a weekend. Additionally, temperament and trick dog evaluations are built into the lineup of reviews alongside CGC testing. When all of the competition leaves participants and spectators with cravings to curb, the Kennel Club Dog Show is known for its wide variety of fantastic food concessions on-site as well. There are grooming spaces set up on-site for participants and more than 25 vendors for guests to browse during the days of competition.
History of the Kennel Club of Palm Springs
The Kennel Club of Palm Springs Dog Show in Indio is the result of years of work on the part of the Kennel Club itself. The club was established back in 1978 by Robert and Lois Waters, Margaret and Fred Young, and Major and Beatric Godsol. The idea was to create a club that would educate members and the public alike about purebred dogs in all capacities. The first licensed show was hosted in Palm Spring in 1984, and the event has only continued to grow in importance and popularity since that time. The 40 acres of lush terrain at the Empire Polo Field in Indio today provides the picture-perfect backdrop for this prestigious competition to continue to dazzle audiences.
